He was born in 1967 in Umlazi town in the southern parts ofDurban.
He spent the better part of his childhood years in the region and even went to Vukuzakhe High School.

Currently, he is fifty-three years old, although he does not look anything close to it.
He pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from UCT between 1985 to 1988.
In 1995, he went back to UCT to pursue his Masters in Business Administration.
