Proudly SA: Taxi driver, 28, graduates with a degree in education

Pelican Khumalo has been working as a taxi driver in Gauteng for the past several years.

However, his colleagues and passengers had no idea Khumalo was working towards his dreams.

In 2015, Khumalo enrolled for a degree in education at the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Briefly.co.zalearned that Khumalo graduated on Tuesday, 12 November, with his degree.

He revealed his Grade 9 teacher, Mr Enoch Shishenge, inspired him to pursue a degree in education.

After matric, Khumalo enrolled for a higher certificate in Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET).

It was while he studied towards the certificate that he started working as a taxi driver.
