Winnie died of complications related to diabetes at the age of 81 in 2018 but her legacy remains.
Tambo joined the African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) at the tender age of 18.
Adelaide was married to Oliver Tambo, with whom she had three children.

Ma Tambo had a passion for women’s rights and helping the elderly and disabled.

Helen Suzman
Helen Suzman was an anti-apartheid activist born in 1917.
She opposed the apartheid government and its legislation.
Helen hosted the meeting which founded the Progressive Party, a liberal party during the apartheid era.
Helen rejected racial discrimination and advocated for equal opportunities for all.
Helen was nominated for two Nobel Peace Prizes.
She died at the age of 91 in 2009.
