His first award was the Song of the year award, during the South African Music Awards.
In 2007, he got recognition for his influence in new generation music.
This was during the FNB South African Music Awards held that year.
In 2016, he received recognition and won the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The award was geared towards appreciating his influence in the industry.
It was also meant to celebrate his twenty-two years in music.

He was involved in a scandal with a songstress Busisiwe Twala.
